  1. The “plantain chips” are called patacones and they’re made when the plantain is green so it’s texture is harder and of course, not sweet at all. It’s a very salty dish.

    The sweet plantain is made when the plantain is more yellow-ish. Sometimes even darker.

  2. We were just in Costa Rica and as I’m editing videos from the trip I realized I didn’t know if you two had been there. Turns out you had! I have to go back and watch more of these old videos.

  3. Only thing I see is good in food there are fruits.vegetables.salad.meat.fish.sea food.Others are for others just garbage. poor food and 70% of the food looks so

  4. Casados are called that way because they always appear together,like a married couple.One of our main dishes in Puerto Rico.

  7. Fruit salad looks good there but in North America you guys eat only junk.and junk food creates junk people.they say.. because you are what you eat. Yet rice.beens daily is very bad

  8. Nice to ask the difference between a green ( not ripe) double fried salty platano verde, and a very ripe fried sweet plantain. " Casados" means married because it is a traditional dish where "rice and beans are always served together" i.e.,

  9. IVE BEEN TO COSTA RICA 4 TIMES, THEY ALSO CALL TRADITIONAL BREAKFAST TICO BREAKFAST. I GET IT EVERY MORNING AND IT NEVER COMES WITH TORTILLA. MINE ALWAYS HAD FRIED CHEESE SIDE AS WELL AND SAUSAGE I FORGET NAME BUT IT WAS AMAZING. ALSO IF YOU GO BACK I HIGHLY RECOMMEND GOING TO WEST COAST TO OSA PENNISULA. ITS MOST DIVERSE PLACE IN THE WORLD AND ITS SURROUNDED BY MOUNTAINS ON BEACH ITS PRETTIER THAN HAWAII. BLACK SAND AND MOUNTAINS EVERYWHERE. DEFINATLY A HIKE DOWN THERE THO ITS ALMOST TO PANAMA BORDER BUT SOOO SOOO WORTH IT.

  10. Awesome video. Gallo Pinto is the best! I’m first generation Costa Rican American, I’ve been eating gallo pinto my entire life. Gallo Pinto in Limón is prepared differently from the rest of the country, but it’s amazing! Loved watching the video!

  12. How can you visit the Costarrican province of Limón and not try the Rice and Beans (no, it’s not like the Gallo pinto or the Casado, different dish) It’s like… the best dish our Caribbean food can offer

  13. The Gallo Pinto was "spicy" and had more flavor because you were on the caribbean side of Costa Rica. The Gallo Pinto in Alajuela a little less spicy. The food varies by region on 🇨🇷
