La Fortuna offers so much variety when it comes to things to do and see in Costa Rica! We spent four days in La Fortuna and enjoyed every minute of it, especially because everything was so affordable! The local food was so flavorful and being immersed in such lush nature was absolutely breath-taking. If you’re lucky, you might catch a view of the Arenal Volcano when it’s not hiding behind the clouds. We were able to see the sunset over the volcano and it was a sight like no other! La Fortuna is amazing overall. Don’t get us started on the waterfalls and the sky blue waters – watch for yourself! The Hertz/Firefly Car Rental in San Jose Costa Rica provided the WORST customer service we have ever experienced from a car rental place (They gave away the automatic car we reserved, only gave us an option to drive a manual car which we were unable to do, and even if we were able to drive manual they increased the daily rental price 10-fold).
We recommend you look elsewhere for a car rental or check out our truly AMAZING Uber driver and friend named ALEJANDRO who drove us all over Costa Rica.

Do you think La Fortuna would be good for a 10 year old? My kid loves to explore jungles and nature but I’m not sure how much endurance she will need to go on the hikes.

Great video! I’m planning a trip for the first week of September for only 4 days and am flying into SJO. Is the drive to la fortuna worth it? I know it’s typically rainy during this time.
Your videos are awesome! I just found your channel a couple of weeks ago, and I’m already planning trips to St. Lucia and Costa Rica. My wife and I are flying to Turks and Caicos this weekend, but now I’m having second thoughts!
Just a warning to those visiting the rivers or free hot springs, please do so during the dry season. Many people have drowned during the rainy season due to heads of water dragging them away.

My wife and I are planning to immigrate there next year. We’ve been doing a lot of research on residency and especially watching a lot of videos. We came across yours yesterday and we were totally amazed at how well you described everything in detail and giving us prices which we have not come across yet. We spent the majority of the time in the Airbnb you mentioned and we used Alejandro to get us from San Jose to La Fortuna. He is so nice! Also he said this video has greatly helped his business grow and now he’s working on getting a website made and multiple vehicles.
The free hot springs in LF were really nice and it was awesome how large the area was. We’ve had some amazing (and cheap!) food in LF and went to Tiquicia Restaurante multiple times. I highly recommend others to visit!
